ReplyDeleteWhy do we post terry's face every? t-shirts, stickers, posters, ect... I believe this is the exact opposite of what he wanted. I think while trying to escape from branding himself he made himself a brand in the process. “I’m not doing the run to become rich or famous.” terry said, but some part of him must have known he would become an image of what he tried to avoid...
ReplyDeleteif terry didn't get cancer in his lungs and finished the run and he was still alive would the marathon have the same effect on everyone and on terry fox merchandise ?
ReplyDeleteTo: Emma
ReplyDeleteThe only reason we post Terry's face everywhere is because we look at Terry as an inspiration to try and be stronger then what we are. Terry would just have to face the fact that he is to us what Bobby Orr was to him (an idol).Even though that is the exact opposite of he wanted we never forgot the point of why he did the run to help and find a cure for cancer, so really we are also doing what he wanted. We have raised over $500 million.
And do you think Terry would care now if he was branded if he ever could know how much we have raised in his name?
why did terry not want to be famous?
ReplyDeleteTo: Danielle,
ReplyDeleteI think terry would care somewhat. What i see in our school doesn't show inspiration when looking at him, the stickers and things we give kids to motivate them in my opinion is just something they use to distract themselves for a moment or so. with people acting like that at the sight of terry's face i think he would be happier without his face posted everywhere.
y do they do all this if they new that terry didnt want publicity from his marathon??
ReplyDeleteIf Terry Fox did not get cancer would he still have cared about the kids that have cancer?
ReplyDeleteto: garnettmeghan214
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on the publicity you're referring too, running each year and raising money for the cause is something I’m sure terry would be proud of. Unlike merchandise; that is probably what he hates because all profit should go to the cause and not into peoples pockets.
How much impact would be to everyone If Terry never had cancer and didn't do the run.
ReplyDeleteif terry did not dye would it still have the same effect
ReplyDeleteWhy does it take someone to run across Canada for people to recognize that cancer needs money
ReplyDeletewould the run have been important if terry didn't have cancer
ReplyDeleteWhy does terry do the run just for cancer and not like, mental problems and how come he just thinks about the run not his family? Emma...thats a really good question!
ReplyDeleteif terry was still alive and we did the terry fox run how would he feel about that?? would he try to stop us from doing it or would he be proud??
ReplyDeleteIn what ways do you think the run would have changed if Terry had lied when he said “I’m not doing the run to become rich or famous.” ?
ReplyDeleteI can think of many way it could change his run if he had lied when he said “I’m not doing the run to become rich or famous.”...
ReplyDeleteTerry might not have been as passionate about the run and might not have finished it by choice
Terry might have let people brand him when he was still alive and not have received the same respect that he got from people
People might not have thought of his run in the same way as they did
People might find out about his lie and not be interested in his run and helping cancer
Maybe people would not donate to cancer because of his actions due to his lie what ever they may be
And I am sure there is many more ways that it could have changed his run
would it been so insperational if terry didnt die?
ReplyDeleteWould people support Terry's Marathon of Hope if he had got cancer from smoking? Well I would think not because who in their right mind would help someone who inflicted this disease upon themself commiting a idiotic and naive act like picking up a cigarette? Now in Terry's actual case, he did not get cancer on purpose and in the midst of getting the cancer, he lost his leg. So of course people are going to help you if you had no choice in getting the disease and when your limping around on one leg across a country.. So the answer to the question is a plain, and utterly flat, no. People would not help you.
ReplyDeleteWhy did Terry not go to the doctors when he was starting to feel really sick? In my opinion he had too much passion and pride for the marathon of hope. Also I think he already knew he had cancer in his lungs, he just didn't want to hear it.
ReplyDeletewhat if terry somked? and if terry saw a doctor and then finished the marahon would it still mean that much to everyone?
