Math is everywhere...

Yesterday I was grocery shopping and I noticed a sale on dog food (Normally I would not buy dog food from a grocery store because my mom owns an organic pet food store, but we'll talk more about that latter!)
Purina is on sale for a third off its regular price of $6.00 for 10 weeks. If I bought a bag of dog food once a week for 10 weeks, how much would it cost for 10 bags? How much money would I save? Show your answer as a fraction (multiplication sentence?), and in money.

Beneful is also on sale for 1/4 off it's regular price of $8.00 for 10 weeks. What is the better deal?

  1. If you bought dog food once a week for 10 weeks it would cost you $20.00 for the 10 bags while Purina is on sale.
Beneful would also be $2.00 a bag or $20.00 per 10 bags for the 10 weeks its on sale.

So both of them are a good deal.

  4. what you do is take
    $6.00 and divid it by 3 witch = 2
then take $8.00 and divid that by 4 witch = 2

so X $2.00 by 10 weeks and you get $20.00
so my answer is there equal

  5. It Would Cost $20.00 for the 10 bags of dog food because a third of $6 is $2 and 2x10=20.

The Other dog food is also $2 because 1/4 of 8 is 2. It would cost $20 for 10 of this dog food bags.

Both of these dog food bags are equal to one another.

  7. it would be a better deal to buy Purina dog food because on sale it would cost $40 ( 2/3 of the price) for the 10 weeks and the beneful on sale price is $60 ( 3/4 of the price) for the 10 weeks, even though you are saving $20 on both.
